‘Synthetic Landscapes’ is a series of landscapes generated with ecological data. The landscapes originate from Nick’s fascination for technology and ontology; a movement in philosophy focusing mainly on a subject’s presence, context and convention.
Combining both his fascinations, Nick researched whether it would be possible for something immaterial to become tangible. Resulting in a paradox worthwhile researching: the materiality of something immaterial. After a few ‘skull shocks’ the research slowly but surely unfolds: what does data look like in a physical form?
