An ode to the book

During my internship I found out that my interests lie in making books. I find it a challenge as a designer to deal with new forms of book making. For many people, books are linked to a particular event or memory. This keeps reading books exciting and my project creates an extra layer to enhance your own imagination.

That is why my main question is: “How do I convince readers of a physical reading book that the design of the book influences the story?” Can book design make people read more? For my graduation project I designed 4 different books. Each book has a different binding method, folding technique and different genre so that you can recognize what the book is about by the design of the book.
